Practicum I: Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Elementary, Bismarck
Spring 2019
1st grade
90+ hours
Planned and taught 6 English Language Arts lessons and 1 Art lesson
As I got to know my students in my first practicum placement I began to see my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher. I learned to anticipate what expectations my students would need me to communicate to them and to speak with gentle firmness when needed.
Planning and teaching 2 Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies lessons as well as 1 Art Integration lesson
I am catering my lessons to students who are diverse in their learning needs and cultural backgrounds. As I get to know my 4th graders, I am learning the importance of forming deeper connections with my students. I am also bringing in more integration between the lessons that I teach.
